Los Altos Stage Company invites audiences to take a journey with one of the most renowned knights-errant of all time as he rises in triumphant transformation in the classic musical, Man of La Mancha. Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Man of La Mancha opens tonight, November 19th and runs through December 19th at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.

With book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh,Man of La Mancha tells the story of the "mad" caballero Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. Backed by his faithful sidekick, Sancho Panza, Quixote duels windmills and defends his "perfect lady" Dulcinea. Dare to dream the impossible dream with this timeless, tough, and tuneful celebration of the human spirit.

Man of La Mancha began as a TV drama by Dale Wasserman for CBS under the title I, Don Quixote. It was broadcast live in 1959. The original Broadway production debuted 50 years ago and ran for 2,328 performances. Its popularity has never waned; it has had four Broadway revivals and numerous national and international productions that have been translated in over 30 languages.

The LASC production is directed by Virginia Drake, faculty emeritus at West Valley College, who previously directed Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, On Golden Pond and Doubt at Los Altos Stage Company. It features a talented ensemble of Bus Barn Theater veterans, as well as new faces, including: Joe Antonicelli, Christina Bolognini, Stephanie Crowley, Yuliya Eydelnant, Josiah Frampton, Peter Juarez, Dave Leon, Scott MacDiarmid, Leslie Newport, Deborah Rosengaus, Andy Rotchadl, Krista Joy Serpa, Andy Serrano, Rafael Toribio, and Daniel P. Wilson.
