LAUREN MAYER (Bio)
Lauren began playing the piano at age 3 and discovered her penchant for writing silly songs shortly thereafter. After graduating from Yale University summa cum laude, Lauren spent 5 years in New York singing on street corners, writing songs, and thoroughly disappointing her parents. She then moved to San Francisco to meet straight men (cue rim shot), where she became a fixture in the cabaret scene, winning five consecutive Bay Area Cabaret Gold awards (and tens of fans).
For the past 25 years Lauren has written and performed customized shows for corporate clients and private parties (and if you're doing the math, just assume she started when she was 10), as well as teaching entrepreneurs how to incorporate humor into their presentations. She has written eleven published children's musicals, released nine albums of kids' music and four albums of comedy songs, created and performed a one-woman show, and won numerous songwriting and performing awards. And since 2012 she has posted a new original topical comedy song weekly. (Her 21-year-old son has informed her that 'over 100 views is viral for old people,' which means she's a hit.)
Despite all these impressive accomplishments, Lauren's mother still doesn't understand why she didn't go to law school.
