Los Altos Stage Company welcomes the holiday season with the beloved musical Into the Woods. Into the Woods runs November 29 through December 23.
What happens after "happily ever after?" Fractured fairy tales of a darker hue provide the context for Into the Woods, which deconstructs The Brothers Grimm by way of "The Twilight Zone." The main characters come from the classic fairytales Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Ridinghood, and are tied together by a more original story involving a baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family. While everyone is familiar with the traditional fairytale ending of happily ever after, this musical follows these stories even further to explore the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests.
Into the Woods debuted on Broadway in 1987 and ran for 764 performances, garnering many awards during its initial Broadway run including Best Actress in a Musical and Best Original Book and Score. The show has spawned numerous national tours and revivals and remains one of the American Theater's best loved musicals to produce.
Los Altos Stage Company's production is directed by Allie Baily, with musical direction by Asa Stern, choreography by Jillian Cummings, scenic design by Brett Carson, costume design by Mae Matos, lighting design by Craig Vilbig, sound design by Ken Kilen, and properties design by Emilia Wysocka-Treder. It features a talented cast of Bus Barn Stage veterans, as well as some new faces, including Steve Allhoff, Caitie Clancey, Juliet Green, Zachary Helfinstein, Stephen Howes, Melissa Jones, Stephen Kanaski, Jordan Kersten, Gary Landis, Brigitte Losey, Judith Miller, David Mister, Dana Cordelia Morgan, Sasha Motalygo, Kori Traina, Samantha Ricci, Anthony Stephens, and Allie Townsend.
