Broadway San Jose, a Nederlander Presentation, announced last night the six productions that will comprise the lineup for the 2016-17 season - Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (September 14 - October 2, 2016), a brand-new stage production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC (November 8 - 13, 2016), the 2013 Tony Award-winning Best Musical KINKY BOOTS (January 24 - 29, 2017), the Tony Award-winning hit musical MATILDA THE MUSICAL (March 7 - 12, 2017), direct from London's West End, THE BODYGUARD (April 25 - 30, 2017), the award-winning musical based on the smash hit film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, and the critically acclaimed and award-winning production of Roundabout Theatre Company's CABARET (June 6 - 11, 2017).
In addition, special season add-on includes a limited engagement of the world's best-loved musical, ANNIE (January 6 - 8, 2017). And, by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which played a record-breaking two-week run in 2015, returns to San Jose for a limited engagement (July 11 - 23, 2017). Guests at last night's season launch event at the Center for the Performing Arts were treated to a surprise appearance by THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA cast member Travis Taylor, who performed a rousing rendition of "The Music of the Night" from the acclaimed musical.Videos
