Actor, performer, dancer, singer, tap sensation and US Air Force welterweight boxing champion, Joe Orrach has performed worldwide on stage, television and in motion pictures with greats such as Gregory Hines, Woody Allen, Savion Glover, Honi Coles, and James Mangold. Joe started on the streets of NYC, at 72nd and Broadway, where Gregory Hines found him two decades ago. The Bay Area knows Joe Orrach as one of the "power acts" at Teatro Zinzanni where for six years he created characters like Gentleman Joe the Barbary Coast pugilistic hoofer, Tino the Puerto Rican parking attendant and Alister the bookworm who transforms himself into a world class boxer.

Back by popular demand after a San Francisco sell-out run, Orrach's solo show IN MY CORNER is moving and energetic. Joe delivers a coming of age story that winds through beats of jazz, Latin and rock 'n roll. Born into a family dominated by a line of Puerto Rican boxers and sweetened by a tradition of Sicilian food, gesture and song, Joe presents a personal story in a high-powered evening of narrative, music and movement. In this dramatic solo performance, Joe is directed by Jim Cave and accompanied by a jazz ensemble, led by musical director and world class pianist Matthew Clark. The show is as fun and full of life as the performer who created it. A 75 minute show.
These performances benefit Oakland School of the Arts.
