The 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa presents a special red carpet gala event in April featuring Santa Rose native Jim Jarrett performing the one-man play Vincent, by Leonard Nimoy.
Tickets are now on sale for Starry, Starry, Night, set for Saturday, April 4. The elegant affair will feature gourmet food, specialty wines, a silent auction and a specially arranged art exhibit. Festivities are followed by Jarrett's critically acclaimed solo production presented in the G.K. Hardt Theatre. Proceeds benefit the 6th Street Playhouse educational programs and productions.
Presented at the 6th Street Playhouse, located in historic Railroad Square, the gala will feature locally acclaimed artists and their works in a special setting reminiscent of a French artists' studio during the Impressionist period with original art works inspired by Van Gogh.
Meet professional local artists Sally Baker of Sebastopol, Marsha Connell of Santa Rosa, Mary Vaughan of Santa Rosa, Steve Bleasdell of Petaluma, Brian Shears of Sebastopol and Amanda Haas of Santa Rosa and bid on these works during the auction.
Set in a lecture hall in Paris, Vincent features witty asides and caustic rejoinders as it takes audiences through amazing landscapes and haunting words that frame a portrait of a gifted, troubled spirit while bringing insight to the Van Gogh mythology.
Jarrett, a resident of Sonoma, recently returned from England where he performed Vincent to packed houses and critical acclaim in theaters in London and surrounding areas. In the summer of 2008, Jarrett was honored as a Best Solo Performer Finalist at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Tickets are available now at $75 per person. Ticket prices are $100 per person after March 1. Reservations are recommended. Order online at www.6thstreetplayhouse.com or call 707-523-4185.
