JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, HEDWIG, and ROCKY HORROR Lead Ray of Light's 2018 Season  Image

Ray of Light Theatre, San Francisco's non-profit musical theatre company, today announced its 2018 season of musicals featuring an all-female adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar, the iconic Hedwig and the Angry Inch and cult classic The Rocky Horror Show. Ray of Light also announced its Cabaret Spotlight Series at Martuni's Piano Bar featuring Katrina McGraw in a limited-engagement solo performance.

"If there were ever three musicals that spoke to who we are as artists, it would be these ones," said Jason Hoover, artistic director of Ray of Light Theatre. "Jesus Christ Superstar has been on our list for a long time and we're so excited to retell it with an all-female cast. And with Hedwig.. and Rocky... we're doing what we do best by bringing cult classics to San Francisco's diverse and engaged audience. We can't wait to see everyone in 2018!"

The iconic rock musical that changed everything then, cast with the gender that's changing everything now. Based on the Gospels' accounts of the last week of Jesus' life, Jesus Christ Superstar imagines the humanity of Jesus and Judas' role on the sidelines in search of the limelight. The timeless score and story make this all-female Jesus Christ Superstar a 2,000-year-old tale fit for 2018.

Jesus Christ Superstar will be co-directed by Ray of Light Theatre Founder, Shane Ray, and Associate Artistic Director, Eliza Leoni. Musical direction by Ben Prince and choreography by Alex Rodriguez.

Cabaret Spotlight Series: Katrina McGraw

You've seen hilarious San Francisco native Katrina McGraw steal scenes all over the Bay, from Ray of Light's Little Shop of Horrors to appearances with SF Playhouse to 42nd Street Moon to the Strand. She brings her wit, charm and serious pipes to her Spotlight Series cabaret, August 26, 7pm at Martuni's Piano Bar.
