The Hub of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) and comedy troupe Killing My Lobster (KML) presents the Purim sketch comedy, The Whole Megillah, in which the Purim story is twisted inside out and examined through the pop-culture filter of the comedians named "Best Comedy Group in San Francisco" by the editors of SF Weekly. Written and performed by members of KML, The Whole Megillah was conceived and directed by The Hub's Dan Wolf, also of the hip-hop ensemble Felonious and resident artist with the Hybrid Project at Intersection for the Arts.

Sketches and shenanigans in The Whole Megillah include a sneak peek at Apple's next breakthrough product - the iJew, a drag retelling of "The Book of Esther;" a music video about one man's intense hatred for hamantaschen (the prune-filled poppy-seed cookies traditionally eaten on the holiday); and "Purim 3000" - an imagining of how Purim will be celebrated in the distant future.

Says Wolf: ""Purim is a holiday where levity, role reversal, and drinking - lots of drinking - are how you celebrate, so a straightforward retelling of the Book of Esther didn't quite feel right. Sketch comedy felt like the exact avenue to take."

Performances take place at the Jewish Theatre, 470 Florida Street on Thursday and Friday, March 17 and 18 at 8 pm, and on Saturday March 19 at 7 & 10 pm. Advance tickets ($15) at 415/292-1233: and $15 & $20 at the door.
