Today, Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, announced that it raised over $100,000 at its annual gala, When You Wish Upon A Star, which took place on Saturday, November 5 at Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame. The proceeds from the gala support Hillbarn Theatre and their community arts initiatives throughout the Bay Area.
More than 200 guests attended this year's gala, which began with a cocktail reception and a special presentation recognizing Alan Hafter and Lori Silverstein as the 2016 Bravo! Award recipients for their tireless dedication and service to the community and Hillbarn Theatre. The evening also featured a special performance by
Caitlin McGinty and
Jim Ambler of Hillbarn Theatre's upcoming production of
Mary Poppins, followed by a performance by Hillbarn Theatre's talented youth actors:
Jack Barrett, Joseph Gloss, Charlotte Kehrberg, Katie Maupin and Matias Pollan. The evening, attended by a record number of new and returning donors and attendees, concluded with a live auction led by California State Senator, Jerry Hill.
"It was a magical evening full of incredible support for Hillbarn Theatre," said Hillbarn Theatre Artistic Director Dan Demers. "We were particularly thrilled to be able to honor two amazing individuals this year with the 2016 Bravo! Award, Alan Hafter and Lori Silverstein, who both continue to be essential cornerstones of support for the arts in the Bay Area."
