Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, kicks off its 2014-15 season opener with one of Broadway's musical theatre cornerstones, Funny Girl.
From the streets of New York's Lower East Side to the bright lights of Broadway, Funny Girl is the enduring and passionate rags-to-riches story of Fanny Brice - one of the most celebrated Vaudeville entertainers. Nominated for eight Tony Awards, Funny Girl takes theatergoers back to the Golden Age of Ziegfeld and the height of burlesque. With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Isobel Lennart, Funny Girl features some of Broadway's most memorable tunes including "Don't Rain on My Parade," "People," "I'm the Greatest Star" and "You Are Woman, I Am Man." Funny Girl will run August 28 - September 21, 2014 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City).
Performances are Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Press night for Funny Girl will be held on Friday, August 29. Single tickets range in price from $23 - $42 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.
