In this comedy from the author of Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack Gable and Leo Clark, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. Through the newspaper they discover a way out of their unfortunate fate by posing as the long-lost nephews of a rich old lady, Florence. However, when they get to York, they discover the relatives are not nephews, but nieces! Unafraid, they continue to pose as the relatives. However, soon they both fall in love and the disguise gets harder and harder to keep up!
"Ken Ludwig's impeccable sense of comedic timing keeps audiences roaring throughout Leading Ladies," says Dan Demers, Hillbarn Theatre's Executive Artistic Director. "Through our casting, we are excited to add another layer to the play's themes of identity."
Under the direction of James Knipple, Leading Ladies features Addie Walters* and Samantha Ricci as the enterprising actors Jack and Leo; Monica Cappuccini as the wealthy Florence; Sarah Benjamin as her niece, Meg; and Justin Buchs* as her aide, Audrey. Rounding out the cast are Peter Ray Juarez as Duncan, Meg's fiancé; Scott Solomon as Doc; and Drew Reitz as Butch.
