Hillbarn Theatre (Foster City) is pleased to welcome Bay Area resident and Actor's Equity member Annmarie Martin as the legendary Mama Rose in Gypsy, performing May 7 - 30.

For information, please visit www.HillbarnTheatre.org.

A native of Menlo Park, Annmarie has been performing in venues throughout the Bay Area and beyond for over 20 years. Favorite roles include: Funny Girl (Fanny Brice), Evita (Eva) and Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney) for Broadway By The Bay; Damn Yankees (Gloria), Big River (Mary Jane), City of Angels (Avril/Mallory) and Hot Mikado (Peep Bo) for American Musical Theatre of San Jose; Blood Brothers (Mrs. Johnstone) for Pacific Repertory Theatre and My Fair Lady (Eliza) for MPC Theatre Company in Monterey. Most recently, she has been a principal actress with Symphony Silicon Valley in their Musical-in-Concert series (Music Man and Most Happy Fella). An avid fan of the San Jose Sharks, she has the privilege of singing the Canadian and American national anthems at home games at the HP Pavilion. Annmarie lives in San Jose with her husband and four year old son, Jack.

Annmarie has been nominated three times for the Bay Area Theatre Critic Circle Award for her work in as Reno in Anything Goes, Eva in Evita and Fanny in Funny Girl for Broadway By the Bay.

Gypsy has been hailed as one of the greatest American musicals by the New York Times and tells the story of demanding stage mother Mama Rose and her desire to make stars our of her daughters. She ultimately succeeds in turning tom boy daughter Louise in legendary stripper Gypsy Rose Lee.

Annmarie says "Rose has been a role I've always had on my dream role list, but I have been waiting until I had the age and maturity to play her. I'm looking forward to taking on this highly-coveted powerhouse role with the right blend of strength and vulnerability. She appeals to me a very basic human level. Rose is a woman who has endured hardships and has made mistakes in her youth, ultimately causing her to sacrifice her own passion and dreams to give her daughters a life of stardom - a life that she mistakenly equated with happiness. She is fiercely complicated, which makes her one of the most fascinating characters in the history of musical theater."

Gypsy is performed May 7 - 30th with shows Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday 2 PM at Hillbarn Theatre - 1285 East Hillsadale Blvd. in Foster City. The Friday May 7 performance features our Opening Night Gala with the cast. For tickets and information, visit www.HillbarnTheatre.org or call 650.349.6411.
