The Willows Theatre Company announces its 34th season with six mainstage productions running August 24, 2009 through May 30, 2010 at the Willows Theatre, 1975 Diamond Boulevard in Concord, CA. The 2009-2010 season includes Hair, Barefoot in the Park, Little Me, and the return of the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award Winner, the musical Brimstone. The rights for two other shows are currently under negotiation and cannot be revealed at this time. But you could take a guess.

Aug. 24 - Sept. 27, 2009 - Hair

Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical with book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. This product of the hippie counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s is back in all its hirsute glory. Let the Sun Shine In!

Oct. 12 - Nov. 8, 2009 - Barefoot in the Park

When a newly minted, uptight lawyer marries a free-spirited dreamer, what could possibly go wrong? Just about everything in one of Neil Simon's most popular comedies. The Willows mines the rich treasure of the author of The Odd Couple and Brighton Beach Memoirs.

Nov. 30 - Dec. 27, 2009 - Little Me

Little Me is the autobiography of the unfailingly optimistic, albeit accident-prone, celebrity Belle Poitrine. Her story takes her from the wrong side of the tracks into the arms of the man of her dreams, with lots of hilarious situations and zany characters along the way. The show was a Broadway triumph for Sid Caesar and Edie Adams and reunited Caesar with his former head writer, Neil Simon. Book by Simon and music by Cy Coleman.

Jan. 25 - Feb. 21, 2010 - Brimstone

Given its West Coast premiere by the Willows in 1998, Brimstone won five Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards! It's Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Eamon Dunne is finally coming home for his brother's funeral after eight years in America. But nothing in his homeland is as it seems and the girl he thought he'd lost is suddenly back in his life, threatening to drag him back into the violence and deception he'd thought he'd left behind. An epic romance set against the tumultuous backdrop of Northern Ireland, this musical by Mary Bracken Phillips and Patrick Meegan won the hearts of critics and audiences alike.

Mar. 15 - April 11, 2010 - A famous detective play whose title may or may not also be the name of the Hardy Boys' boat. Rights currently under negotiation.

Apr. 26 - May 30, 2010 - A very popular musical named for a certain Midwestern city that may or may not have been called "hog-butcher of the world." (The city, not the musical.) Rights currently under negotiation.
