A tribute to the music of American Jazz Musician Glenn Miller and Tex Beneke featuring the Tex Beneke Orchestra will appear at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Friday, February 10 at 7:00 PM. The show will also star The Four Aces, The Modernaires with Paula Kelly Jr. and Cassie Miller.

Glenn Miller was one of the best-selling recording artists from 1939 to 1943. His notable recordings include “In the Mood,” “American Patrol,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo", "A String of Pearls", "Tuxedo Junction", "Moonlight Serenade", "Little Brown Jug" and "Pennsylvania 6-5000".

After Glenn Miller disappeared over the English Channel on a flight to Paris in 1944, his widow appointed Tex Beneke to take over the Miller Air Force Band, which would later be called the Tex Beneke Orchestra. Since the band’s inception, they have been playing the great hits of the Miller era along with hits of their own. The band is currently under the direction of Jim Snodgrass who was handpicked as the new leader by Tex Beneke himself.

The Gallo Center for the Arts’ 2011-12 Premier Partner is Boyett Petroleum.
