Currently the Gilroy Arts Alliance is seeking Art enthusiasts to come greet and educate the community about exhibits and workshops being offered at the Gilroy Center for the Arts.

Docents will stand and greet visitors to the Center. Engage visitors in conversation-tell them about the Gilroy Arts Alliance, the interim Center for the Arts and progress towards getting the permanent Center for the Arts campus built. Become familiar with the GAA website (www.gilroyartsalliance.org), art exhibits, events and workshops.

Know about the current exhibit and artists to better answer questions about the show. Be ready to ask questions of visitors to discover their interests in the arts and better match them with appropriate programs. Read the history of the organization, the City of Gilroy, and attend local Historic Walking Tours led by local experts to learn more.

Docents should be ready to go the extra mile-educating visitors to the community about local restaurants and lodging. Help to arrange reservations for dining, lodging and live performance events in the city. The community arts center should be regarded as a "home away from home," a welcoming environment to provide access to the arts to everyone.

Please consider becoming a volunteer docent at the Gilroy Center for the Arts. For more information about becoming an Art Docent, contact Trish Sullivan, Director, or Stephanie Woehrmann, Center Administrator.

The Gilroy Center for the Arts is at 7341 Monterey Street at the corner of 7th and Monterey, Gilroy CA 95020. Telephone 408.842.6999 or visit www.gilroyartsalliance.org.
