Ahoy! Foothill Music Theatre presents the madcap nautical adventure ANYTHING GOES, an uproarious musical comedy featuring the unforgettable tunes of Cole Porter. Hailed as "a thundering good musical" by the New York Times, ANYTHING GOES is Broadway at its best, filled with show-stopping tap dance routines, impetuous romance, and enough colorful, lively characters to rock the boat. Award-winning director Jay Manley helms these seafaring shenanigans with musical direction by Catherine Snider and choreography by Dottie Lester-White. ANYTHING GOES sets sail July 23 - August 15, 2010 at the Smithwick Theatre in Los Altos. For tickets and information, the public may visit www.foothillmusicals.com or phone the box office at (650) 949-7360.

After stowing away aboard the S.S. American on a cross-Atlantic cruise, love-struck Billy Crocker hopes to win back the favor of heiress Hope Harcourt before she marries the stuffy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. With the help of the Evangelist nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and the second-rate mobster Moonface Martin (aka Public Enemy #13), not to mention the tap dancing Fallen Angels, would-be sweethearts in disguise, and a host of mistaken identities, Billy soon learns that it's sink or swim when it comes to love. ANYTHING GOES spotlights Cole Porter's deloveliest hits, including "Friendship," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "Blow, Gabriel, Blow," "You're the Top," "It's Delovely," and the classic titular song "Anything Goes."

The vibrant cast of ANYTHING GOES includes local actress Karen DeHart playing the savvy nightclub singer Reno Sweeney. Audiences have seen DeHart as Roxie in Chicago at South Bay Music Theater as well as in starring roles in local productions of Annie Get Your Gun, Guys & Dolls, and Brigadoon. Playing the romantic lovebirds are Justin Buchs (San Jose Repertory Theatre, American Musical Theatre San Jose, Foothill Music Theatre) as hopeful Billy Crocker and ingénue Marisa Illo making her Foothill Music Theatre debut as the lovely Hope Harcourt. The production also boasts Foothill veterans Tim Reynolds (TheatreWorks, South Bay Musical Theatre, and Broadway By the Bay) as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Walter Mayes (South Bay Musical Theatre, Arclight Repertory Theatre, Sunnyvale Community Players) as mobster Moonface Martin, Mary Melnick (TheatreWorks, South Bay Musical Theatre, Lyric Theatre) as his faithful partner-in-crime Erma, John Musgrave (West Valley Light Opera, Broadway By the Bay, Hillbarn Theatre) as boss Eli Whitney and Carol Knouf (South Bay Music Theatre, West Valley Light Opera) as the upper-crust matron Mrs. Harcourt.

Foothill Music Theatre, under the artistic direction of Jay Manley, has won Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Awards for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Ensemble Production, and Best Direction, among others. The company has also garnered numerous Dean Goodman Choice Awards, awards from the Los Angeles-based Drama-Logue, and kudos from myriad Bay Area critics for its sharp, handsomely mounted productions of The Producers, Annie Get Your Gun, Brigadoon, Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, Guys and Dolls, Showboat, West Side Story, Carousel, and other classic musicals.

A $2 parking permit is required at all performance times. At all Sunday matinees, a shuttle bus will operate from parking lot 1 to the top of the campus at 10-minute intervals.
