Broadway By the Bay (BBBay) continues its 2006 season with the multiple Tony award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof.  "Set in the small Russian village of Anatevka on the eve of the Russian revolution, the book by Joseph Stein tells the warm and humorous story of the dairyman Tevye, played by Jamie Torcellini, who is trying to maintain the simplicities of his traditional life against changing times and the rapid growth of his five daughters," explains press notes.

Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick's (lyrics) score features such classics as "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," and "Tradition."  This BBBay production will be directed by Marc Jacobs.

Long considered the Bay Area's best-kept theatrical secret, award-winning Broadway By the Bay provides full scale musical theatre productions of professional quality at bargain family prices. Now in its 41st season, BBBay presents each performance in the 1600 seat San Mateo Center for the Performing Arts.

Fiddler on the Roof opened July 14 and runs until July 30.  Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8:00PM and Sundays at 2:00PM.  There is a special Family Matinee Saturday, July 22 at 2:00PM.
