The Merola Opera Program and the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch are pleased to present the second season of Merola Goes to the Movies, the free, opera-on-film series.

Donizetti's powerful opera Anna Bolena will be screened this Sunday, September 21, at 1 pm in the Koret Auditorium at the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch (100 Larkin Street). Doors for first come seating open at 12:30 pm.

Each film is preceded by a short, pre-screening talk by a Merola representative, who will give an insider's look at the opera and interesting facts about the making of the film.

Anne Boleyn's tragic, final days are brought to life by Donizetti's masterful composition, featuring a stunning performance by opera star Anna Netrebko (Merola 1996 alum) as Anna. The 2011 Vienna State Opera cast includes Anna Netrebko, El?na Garan?a, Ildebrando D'Arcangelo among others.

Admission is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are welcome to enter a free drawing where you can win Merola Opera Program prizes.
