City Lights Theater Company of San Jose proudly presents THE THREE MUSKETEERS, freely adapted from the Dumas novel by Associate Artistic Director Kit Wilder. The production previews on Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th, 2009, with the Gala Opening Performance on Saturday, March 21st, 2009. A post-show discussion will be held on Sunday, March 29th. The production is scheduled to run through April 19th, 2009.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS. As actors take the stage for the Dumas' swashbuckling tale of intrigue, friendship, and love in 17th Century France, they discover that their leading player is nowhere to be found. Only when a hapless stagehand is armed, costumed, and provided with a script can the show go on. And "go on" it does - with the company of seasoned actors guiding the novice page-by-page through the role of D'Artagnan. Chock-full of dastardly deeds and daring-do, this rowdy and rollicking MUSKETEERS is rapier-sharp - a swift and satisfying blend of high drama, low comedy, dark secrets, and heart-rending romance. And oh, those swordfights!

JEFFREY BRACCO is a professional actor, director, and playwright who lives in Paris, France. Recently he directed the premieres of two new French comedies, CODE 40 and BONHEUR AU BAR DU COIN, by Patrice Scanu. He directed his own play, SHAKESPOD, for the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival (produced by City Lights last summer, and currently in its third season on the Paris stage). Jeffrey has also worked with American playwright Horton Foote, directing two of the author's best-loved plays, A YOUNG LADY OF PROPERTY and John Turner DAVIS. Other directing highlights from both Europe and the U.S. include WAITING FOR GODOT, A LIE OF THE MIND, AS YOU LIKE IT, and West Side Story. Originally from the Bay Area, Jeffrey is delighted to be making his City Lights debut with Les Trois Mousquetaires!

THE CAST features Thomas Gorrebeeck (FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, LYSISTRATA) as the stagehand-turned-swashbuckler who takes on the role of D'Artagnan, a young man from the countryside determined to become a Musketeer. Once in Paris, he quickly runs afoul of the show's titular trio, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, played respectively by Kit Wilder (THE FULL MONTY, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR), City Lights newcomer John Romano, and George Psarras (FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, VOLUNTARY AMNESIA). After the four men find a common enemy in Cardinal Richelieu, portrayed by Michael J. West (A FEW GOOD MEN, JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL), they band together through a constant onslaught of intrigues and romances. First the Musketeers must defend their queen, played by Robyn Winslow (NOISES OFF, FAT PIG) from the sinister plots of the Cardinal, and then they must defend themselves and D'Artagnan's lover, Constance, portrayed by Amanda Folena (FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL) from the mysterious and murderous Milady de Winter, played by Vera Sloan in her City Lights debut.

City Lights Theater Company of San Jose's production of THE THREE MUSKETEERS is scheduled to run through April 19th, 2009. Please call the City Lights Box Office at 408-295-4200 for tickets or more information.
