So Nice to Come Home To: A World War II Musical will make its world premiere at the Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma. The show features music by Richard B. Evans, lyrics by Kate Hancock, and a book by both Evans and Hancock, and is based on two plays by J.M. Barrie.

Set in New York City in 1944, it's a time of innocence, uncertainty, humor and optimism - but the stresses of war are affecting soldiers and civilians alike. This touching, sweet, funny and thought-provoking musical tells the story of a middle-aged woman's determination to become an essential part of America's war effort.

The musical features original songs evoking the era with every style of music from the 1940s represented, including a patriotic anthem, tuneful nods to New York City and Carmen Miranda, sweet ballads, waltzes and foxtrots.

The cast features Broadway veteran Michael McGurk as Kenneth, a young American soldier. The cast also includes Elly Lichenstein of Petaluma (Kate), Valentina Osinski of Petaluma (Jean, Eleanor), Stephen Walsh of Vallejo (Al), Gary Grossman of Cotati (Harry), and Michael Van Why of Santa Rosa (Toombs, Bill Brannigan).

This world premiere musical comedy production has been commissioned by Cinnabar Theater Founder, Jan Klebe, from the creators of "The Playboy of Balyduff." Ann Woodhead directs and Mary Chun is the music director.
