The Wilder Green Art Fund has awarded Central Works theater company a grant of $30,000 to subsidize the play development costs of its next 3 seasons, beginning in 2010.

Entering its 20th season next year, Central Works develops and produces its own scripts using a distinctive process called the Central Works Method of collaborative play development. The company typically develops up to 3 new plays each season, presenting them in the beautiful and intimate theater at the Berkeley City Club.

The Wilder Green Art Fund is a private philanthropic program that supports a variety of arts and humanitarian projects. The fund is named after its sponsor, Wilder Green of New York City, architect, former Director of the Museum of Modern Art Exhibition Program and former Director of the American
Foundation of Arts until his retirement in 1987. Thereafter, until his death in 2005, he maintained his lifelong commitment to the arts, notably as Chairman and Head of the grants program of the Judith Rothschild Foundation.

In 2008, the Wilder Green Art Fund provided major support for the Central Works production of Paul Hawken¹s Blessed Unrest. This new grant will ensure the company continues developing new plays for the next 3 years, beginning with An Anonymous Story by Anton Chekhov. Adapted by Gary Graves and directed by founding artistic director, Søren Oliver, "Anonymous Story" opens February 20, 2010.
