Cast Announced For Sierra Rep's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST  Image

Sierra Repertory Theatre will delight it's audiences this summer with Disney's Beauty and the Beast, one of modern musical theatre's biggest hits. Based on the classic 1991 Disney animated film, this theatrical telling celebrates the Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and is expanded with soaring new melodies that enchants audiences of all ages. With a book by Linda Woolverton, it's everything to love about the film and more in a stage spectacular. The independent Belle, trapped in her provincial town, finds her life turned upside down when she takes her father's place as a captive in an enchanted castle ruled by an angry Beast. With help from the creatures in the castle and her own kindheartedness, Belle finds the prince inside the Beast and works to break the curse on the mysterious castle and all of its inhabitants. A fantastically enjoyable adventure, this classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters and dazzling production numbers, including: "Be Our Guest" and the beloved title song.

Belle will be played by Brook Quintana. She previously played Belle in the National Tour of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Other credits include Maria in West Side Story (Winner of NH Theatre Awards Best Actress in a Musical 2017) Eponine in Les Misérables, and Diana Morales in A Chorus Line. The Beast will be played by Daniel Barrington Rubio, who has played the role twice before for Broadway By The Bay and Mountain Play. Recent credits include Billy Elliot the Musical (Contra Costa Musical Theatre, Shrek the Musical (Woodminster Summer Musicals), and Love's Labour's Lost (Marin Shakespeare Company). Jarrett Jay Yoder, who plays Gaston, was recently seen in the title role on the 45th Anniversary Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. Quintana, Rubio and Yoder all make their Sierra Repertory Theatre debuts with Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Lumiere will be played by Jake Delaney, who previously performed in the Sierra Rep productions of Sister Act, and Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Other credits include the National/International tours of The Addams Family, Fiddler on the Roof, and 'S Wonderful. Randi Linee will play Mrs. Potts. Linee has previously appeared in the Sierra Rep productions of Sister Act, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Ms. Linee is also Sierra Rep's Education Director for the 2018 season. The role of Cogsworth will be played Harvey T. Jordan, who recently appeared as Egeus/Tom Snout in Sierra Rep's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Jordan has performed with numerous companies around the county including Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Minnesota Repertory Theatre, and PCPA Theaterfest.

Sierra Rep company member's Ty Smith and Lucas Michael Chandler appear as Maurice and Monsieur D'Arque/Ensemble, respectively. A veteran of Off-Broadway, regional theatres, and Shakespeare festivals, Smith has also appeared in the Sierra Rep productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, and King Lear. Chandler has appeared in Sierra Rep's Mamma Mia!, Man of La Mancha, Rodgers and Hammerstein's State Fair, and The Robber Bridegroom.

Drew Boudreau returns to play LeFou, after appearing in The Sound of Music and Oklahoma! Boudreau also appeared in Off-Broadway's Game of Thrones: The Musical, and the national tour of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Sheila Townsend makes her Sierra Rep debut playing the role of Madame de le Grande Buche. Townsend's credits include Bay Area productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mamma Mia!, The Wizard of Oz, and Company. Sarah Schori returns to Sierra Rep in the Ensemble of Disney's Beauty and the Beast and to serve as Dance Captain. Previous Sierra Rep credits include Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Ensemble in The Music Man.

Gabriel Gutierrez and Jacob Tangernburg share the role of Chip. Gutierrez makes his professional debut with Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Tangenburg returns after appearing as Randy in A Christmas Story.

Members of the ensemble include:

Kelly Ann Dunn whose regional credits include roles with Sacramento Theatre Company and Davis Shakespeare Ensemble. Quinn Farley who returns to Sierra Rep after appearing in Mamma Mia! Henry Flores who has appeared in the Central Valley area productions of Of Mice and Men, Boeing Boeing, and Tartuffe. Rajah Foestner who recently appeared in Murphy Creek Theatre's Arsenic and Old Lace. Carolyn Elise Keller, who recently appeared as Rita in Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Brittany Law (Babette) makes her Sierra Rep debut with Disney's Beauty and the Beast, after recently appearing the world premiere of Pride and Prejudice the Musical. William Weidner returns after appearing in the Quartet of The Music Man.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast is directed and choreographed by Dann Dunn. As a Director/Choreographer, Associate, and Dance Captain, Dann has created and maintained works around the world (Broadway/NYC: Miracle On 34th Street, Sesame Street On Broadway!, The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer. National/International Tour: CATS, The Music Man, Sesame Street Live!, The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber, La Traviata). The production is music directed by Benjamin Van Diepen (National tour: Jesus Christ Superstar; Broadway Across America: Million Dollar Quartet).

Disney's Beauty and the Beast will run June 15 through July 29. Curtain times are Wednesday at 2pm, Thursday at 2pm, Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.

Performances at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park (11175 Washington St, Columbia, CA 95310) begin on June 15, and plays through July 29. Performance times are Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm. Ticket prices range from $32 to $47. Discounts for seniors, children, and students (18 and over with student ID) are available for all performances. Special discounts for groups of 20 or more are also available.
