An aspiring comedian from Brazil more interested in finding the perfect joke than cleaning takes a job as a house keeper in Sarah Ruhl's wildly funny play, THE CLEAN HOUSE, opening tonight, May 25 on the Los Altos stage and playing through June 16.
Set in a metaphysical Connecticut, we meet Lane and Charles, two doctors in need of care of both their house and hearts. Lane hires Matilde, a young Brazilian woman who has come to the US to escape her past and who spends her time seeking the perfect joke. As Lane and Charles' marriage falls apart, Matilde finds herself in the middle of the crisis, along with Lane's sister, Virginia. THE CLEAN HOUSE offers a whimsical look at class, comedy and the true nature of love. This extraordinary play by one of America's brightest new voices in drama was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Bus Barn Stage Company's production of THE CLEAN HOUSE is directed by Jeanie K. Smith and features the acting talents of Leslie Breton, Monica Cappuccini, Sondra Putnam, Carolyn Ford Compton, and Steve Lambert.
