Broadway San Jose, A Nederlander Presentation in association with Team San Jose, has announced its 2012-2013 Season, which includes the Bay Area Premiere of the Tony Award Winning MEMPHIS! The season also includes South Bay debuts of ROCK OF AGES, Tony Award-Winning Billy Elliot THE MUSICAL and Green Day'S AMERICAN IDIOT. Also in the season are family favorites Cathy Rigby as PETER PAN and Blue Man Group. Broadway San Jose's 2012-2013 Season begins tonight, October 23, 2012 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

"Our 4th season in San Jose gives us so much to celebrate, two Bay Area shows make their return, the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts turns 40 and the Nederlander Organization turns 100! This will be a spectacular year of Broadway and Birthdays!" said Ruth Egherman Pangilinan, General Manager at Broadway San Jose. 

"This season Nederlander marks our 100th anniversary presenting the world's best entertainment in great theatres from New York to Los Angeles and Durham to San Diego" says James L. Nederlander, president of The Nederlander Organization. "We are very proud to be associated with the Center for the Performing Arts on the occasion of its 40th anniversary and honored to be partners in bringing Broadway's best shows to San Jose. Congratulations on this important milestone and here's to many more celebrations in the future."

This year is the 40th anniversary of the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, which opened its doors in April of 1972.

The 2012-2013 Broadway San Jose Season is as follows (in chronological order):

MEMPHIS
October 23-28, 2012

About the show: "TURN UP THAT DIAL... From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. ROCK OF AGES
January 29 – February 3, 2012

About the show: "The worldwide party musical ROCK OF AGES features a mix of 28 rockin' 80's tunes including DON'T STOP BELIEVIN', WE BUILT THIS CITY, THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE, HERE I GO AGAIN, CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA's most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80's. Blue Man Group
April 2-7, 2013

Green Day'S AMERICAN IDIOT
June 4-9, 2013

With direction by Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), choreography by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch) and orchestrations and arrangements by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal).
