Broadway San Jose announced the launch of a unique social media "TweetSeat" campaign which includes a contest only open to its Twitter followers and Facebook fans. Winners will receive tickets for VIP designated "TweetSeats" and cast party invitations for the opening night performance of one of three remaining productions in its 2009/2010 season, including the farewell performance of Riverdance, the critically-acclaimed hit Avenue Q, and the sensational Legally Blonde: The Musical. In exchange, "TweetSeaters" will be required to access Twitter or Facebook from their smart phones before, during, and after the performance to deliver live commentary about the show to their networks.
"Since our first production in September 2009, we've been received with open arms by the Bay Area," said Ruth Pangilinan, General Manager of Broadway San Jose. "By launching the TweetSeat campaign, we feel like we're finding new ways to engage our patrons and fans and make it easy for them to share the unique experience of attending a live Broadway production, through social media." According to a recent study by Situation Marketing, Broadway ticket buyers are active social media users. Survey findings, based on 1,100 responses given online to Broadway ticket buyers during the month of July 2009 that asked them about their social networking usage, found that of those that belong to a social network, 91.1% use Facebook regularly and 27.2% use Twitter regularly.
Parties interested in entering to win a TweetSeat can do so by following Broadway San Jose on Twitter at www.twitter.com/broadwaysanjose or by becoming a fan on the Broadway San Jose Facebook Fan Page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/San-Jose-CA/Broadway-San-Jose/92946576482. Winners will be chosen randomly from entries received through Twitter and Facebook only. "TweetSeat" contest official terms and conditions and program qualifications are posted on the Broadway San Jose Facebook Fan Page.
