The blockbuster musical, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, runs from November 4th through November 20th at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City (2215 Broadway Street, Redwood City, CA).

Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's modern classic, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, an international sensation that has been seen by over 35 million people in 13 different countries. Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version includes the beloved classics written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for over 13 years and was nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

This fun and family-friendly musical, adapted from the original 1991 Disney film, brings to life the timeless story of a selfish and hot tempered prince who is turned into a hideous beast and must win the affection of a beautiful, young girl in order to regain his humanity. This musical includes the classic songs "Be Our Guest", "Gaston", the title song "Beauty and the Beast" and many more. The exuberant musical offers humor, romance, and excitement for all ages.

Director Kelly Tighe says, "At it's heart, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is a story of two people overcoming factors that contribute to making them outsiders. Belle's desire to be an intellectual, an explorer and an individual make her an object of speculation, fear, and division in her homogenous and apparently small-minded community. The prince has an inability to empathize, and his selfishness and pride ultimately drive him to a point where his choices not only curse him, but the entire household. It's only when these two people, outsiders for such disparate reasons, find themselves under the same roof, in the same circumstance, that our story takes flight. And of course, as always, love, kindness, honesty and a little bit of magic are the keys to solving their problems."

Tighe is thrilled to direct at BBBay for the first time, having served as scenic designer on numerous hits including Dreamgirls, LES MISERABLES, West Side Story and Miss Saigon. "I can't wait to embark on this exciting journey," he says. "I'm graced with a magnificent cast, and the artistic and production team are at the top of their game. I hope our audiences will have as much fun watching the show as we will have making it."

Alicia Jeffrey, Executive Artistic Director, says "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is a wonderful opportunity for us to really do what we do best - create a theatrical experience that is unique for our audiences. We aren't remounting someone else's vision of this show - it's our own, and it's truly thrilling." Jeffrey continues, "It is also a wonderful opportunity for us to engage our community in new ways, including having our first ever ASL-Interpreted performance. We're also very excited to be partnering with Autism Speaks to present an Autism-friendly performance to close our run. That performance will also be a fundraiser for Autism Speaks, and I can think of no better way to end our successful 2016 season."
