Bay Area theater lovers will have the rare chance to see the Bay Area premiere of Bill Cain's dazzling new play EQUIVOCATION at Marin Theatre Company (MTC) next spring concurrent with its Off-Broadway premiere at Manhattan Theatre Club (also known as MTC). EQUIVOCATION will run March 25 through April 18, 2010.

Its critically acclaimed world premiere is now onstage at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival through October 31. EQUIVOCATION was developed at the Ojai Playwrights Conference and TheatreWorks in Palo Alto and is recipient of The Edgerton Foundation 2008 New American Plays Award.

Forced on pain of death to write the false history of a national tragedy, how would you protect yourself and still write the truth? This brilliant new play takes you behind-the-scenes at the legendary Globe Theater where Shakespeare and his company struggle with how to play a high-stakes political game and stay true to their convictions. Discover the story about the birth of Macbeth and King Lear in this collision of art, politics, and life.

Marin Theatre Company's powerhouse cast will feature Charles Shaw Robinson as Shagspeare, and includes Anna Bullard, Andrew Hurteau, Lance Gardner, Craig Marker, and Andy Murray. The production is directed by Jasson Minadakis.

Marin Theatre Company is a professional regional theatre committed to producing high quality live theatre designed to engage, entertain, challenge and educate our audiences, thereby enriching the cultural life of our community. We provide a forum for contemporary, classic and emerging playwrights and, through our conservatory, an environment that introduces people of all ages to the transformative power of theatre.
