EXIT Theatre and DIVAfest are pleased to announce the merger of their organizations. DIVAfest, currently a Company in Residence at the EXIT, will integrate their operations and activities into those of EXIT Theatre and will present work under EXIT Theatre's banner.

DIVAfest was founded in 2002, a special project of EXIT Theatre, in response to a palpable lack of opportunities for female playwrights in the larger theatrical industry. Since then, DIVAfest has produced over 60 new plays and projects by women and provided opportunities in leadership, collaboration, and participation to hundreds of female artists.

EXIT Theatre and DIVAfest look forward to two upcoming productions under this new partnership.

Terra Incognita: Through the Waves - created in collaboration with UpLift Physical Theatre - opens November 4, 2016 at the EXIT Studio. Through a vocabulary of acrobatics, an all-female cast weaves the tale of a woman lost between the waters of her grief and the mountaintops of her joyful memories, following the disappearance of her soul-mate.

Kilgallen/Jones - a new play by Allison Page, who also scribed Hilarity which DIVAfest produced in 2015 - opens March 9, 2017 on EXIT Theatre's mainstage. Inspired by real-life journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, who died under mysterious circumstances shortly after announcing privileged knowledge pertaining to JFK's assassination, Kilgallen/Jones explores the human imperative to investigate and the real (and sometimes imagined) consequences that follow.
Additionally, signature monthly offering DIVA or Die Burlesque will continue to delight patrons in the EXIT Café on the third Saturday of every month.

Christina Augello, Founder and Artistic Director of EXIT Theatre and DIVAfest, says that she and the rest of her team are enthusiastic about "continuing to support the work of women in the arts and upholding the mission of celebrating female power and creativity and nurturing female artists and allies."
