Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced a new director of marketing and communications. Peter Yonka takes on the position after serving as Berkeley Rep's marketing director for the past three seasons. He replaces Polly Ikonen, the former director of marketing and communications.
"Peter is going to be valued addition to our senior management team," says Susan Medak, Berkeley Rep's managing director. "We are glad to have him!"
During his time at Berkeley Rep, Yonka has guided advertising, marketing partnerships, and digital strategy for several of Berkeley Rep's top-grossing shows including Macbeth (with Frances McDormand), Monsoon Wedding, and Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations. Prior to Berkeley Rep, Yonka served as general manager at Magic Theatre in San Francisco, director of marketing at Barter Theatre in Virginia, and has held several operational and marketing analyst roles in San Francisco and New York. In his new role, he will manage a 10-person staff providing oversight of strategic marketing and communications for the Theatre's subscription season and special events, audience development, box office, and house management. Yonka graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from the University of Michigan.
