Three local high school students will join multi-platinum selling, five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein in performance at Feinstein's at the Nikko in San Francisco on October 7-10. The young singers were national finalists in the 2015 Great American Songbook Academy, sponsored by the Great American Songbook Foundation.

Michael Feinstein founded the Great American Songbook Foundation in 2007 in order to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the music of the Great American Songbook to future generations. The work of the Songbook Foundation includes educational programming, a reference library, archive and gallery, the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame, and the annual high school Songbook Academy.

"I created the Songbook Academy to foster young artists who have an interest in the American Songbook, which includes the music of classic Broadway, Jazz standards, and popular music. Through this program, we are reaching a new generation to teach the music of the American Songbook and the history that inspired and influenced its composers," said Michael Feinstein, founder of the program and the organization called the Great American Songbook Foundation.

Cate Hayman, of Mill Valley, was named Songbook Inspiration Award winner at the 2015 Songbook Academy. Cate performs locally with the American Conservatory Theatre and can be seen in their upcoming ACT Cabaret season. Cate will join Michael Feinstein at the Nikko on October 7.

Joshua Tazman is a young jazz vocalist and singer/songwriter from San Francisco. He currently sings with the Berkeley Jazz school Advanced High School Jazz Workshop and the SFJAZZ High School All-Star Orchestra. Joshua recently released his debut EP of original songs. Joshua will join Michael Feinstein at the Nikko on October 8. www.JoshuaTazman.com
