Bay Area Cabaret brings back two of today's most celebrated songwriting divas, together for the first time in the Venetian Room-cabaret star and Golden Globe-winner Amanda McBroom ("The Rose") and jazz great Ann Hampton Callaway ("At The Same Time"). In this sensational concert, which debuted in London to rave reviews, the platinum-selling songwriters will be accompanied by yet another great songwriter, Michele Brourman. This is a rare opportunity to hear these two sisters in song share a stage together in celebration of Ms. McBroom's newest album "Voices."
Amanda McBroom has been called "...the greatest cabaret performer of her generation, an urban poet who writes like an angel and has a voice to match." Her name first came to the attention of the public when Bette Midler's version of Amanda's song "The Rose" hit number one around the world in 1979. But it was Amanda's performance of her own song on the Golden Globes (she won), Grammys (she didn't) and "The Tonight Show" that launched her career as a singer as well as songwriter. In addition to Midler, her songs have been recorded by a variety of artists including Amy Poehler and Jack Black, Barry Manilow, Judy Collins, Barbara Cook, LeAnn Rimes, Anne Murray, Harry Belafonte, Betty Buckley, Stephanie Mills, The Manhattan Transfer, Donny Osmond, Kurt Cobain, Nana Mouskouri, and Conway Twitty. Amanda recently released "Voices," her sixth recording on Gecko, the label she established in 1985.Tickets for Divalicious are $65 general/$55 subscribers, with no food or drink minimum required.
