Bay Area Cabaret continues its acclaimed series at the Venetian Room at Fairmont San Francisco (950 Mason Street atop Nob Hill) with two special shows in March-one a tribute to cabaret as a distinctive art form, and the other a return engagement for two of the most popular Bay Area Cabaret artists. On March 5 at 5:00 pm, A Cabaret Spectacular will celebrate the art of cabaret performance featuring some of the finest cabaret performers from across the nation. Then on March 26 at 7:30 pm, world-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli and Broadway soprano Jessica Molaskey, return to the Bay Area Cabaret stage with their brand new hit show from Café Carlyle in New York. Tickets for both shows at www.bayareacabaret.org or by calling (415) 392-4400.
Established as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook and a "rare entertainer of the old school," according to the Seattle Times, jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli has expanded his songbook repertoire to include the music of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim and others in his shows with his wife, Broadway singer Jessica Molaskey. The pair will debut their most recent Café Carlyle show, Arc of a Love Affair, which proves there is no limit to the couple's imagination or talent. Their shows together probe the complexities of life and love in today's world ("Coffee in a Cardboard Cup"), and marry John's jazz style with Jessica's distinctly cabaret sensibility. Pizzarelli & Molaskey shows remain one of the most popular of Bay Area Cabaret offerings, frequently selling out. Tickets are $55.
