Aurora Theatre Company will add seven performances to its Bay Area premiere of DETROIT '67 by Dominique Morisseau, book writer of the hit Temptations musical Ain't Too Proud.
DETROIT '67 now plays through Oct. 7: (added performances Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 pm; Thursday, Oct. 4, at 8 pm, Friday, Oct. 5, at 8 pm, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 8 pm; Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 pm and 7 pm) on Aurora's main stage.
Darryl V. Jones (The Royale) directs this redemptive story of family and survival that features Myers Clark, Rafael Jordan (American Buffalo), Halili Knox, Emily Radosevich (The Real Thing) and Akilah A. Walker. The creative team includes Cliff Caruthers--sound design, Kitty Muntzel--costume design; Richard Olmsted--set design; and Jeff Rowlings--lighting design.
The show, which opened Sept. 6, has received critical acclaim. Talkin' Broadway calls DETROIT '67 a "flawless production." Says Theatre Eddys: "Aurora's Detroit '67 rocks with Motown sounds that soothe and soar, teases with humor both rich and raw, and shakes to the core with historical events serious and shattering."
