Atlantic City Ballet Brings SWAN LAKE To Napa Valley! Image

Of all the great classics, Swan Lake remains the quintessential ballet of all time. It is the story of romance, sorcery and betrayal, and centered on one of life's most recognizable themes, the struggle between good and evil. The nationally acclaimed Atlantic City Ballet brings this stunning performance to the Lincoln Theater on January 26th. The production includes local dancers, exciting choreography and Tchaikovsky's fabulous score in a classic the whole family can enjoy!

Swan Lake follows the plight of Prince Siegfried who is captivated by the beautiful Swan Queen Odette at their first lakeside meeting. Under the spell of Von Rothbart, an evil spirit, she can only return to her human form at night. Odette's spell can be broken if one who has never loved before swears to love Odette forever. One of the most famous and frequently performed works in the international repertoire, Swan Lake was first performed at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1877, with a specially commissioned score by Tchaikovsky. The production was not an overwhelming success at its premiere but has since become a fixture for ballet companies across the globe.

Founded in 1982, by International Ballerina, Phyllis Papa, the Atlantic City Ballet is comprised of professional dancers from around the world and has earned national acclaim for their technical expertise and exuberant stage presence. Although their home base is in Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the Ballet has performed in theaters all along the east coast. Their repertoire of original works includes such classics as A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake but Ms. Papa is most known for her innovative works such as Dracula, Caught Up In The Swing and her full length Carmen. Since its inception, the Atlantic City Ballet has served as one of the cultural treasures of New Jersey and continues a tradition of dance excellence for future generations of ballet audiences.

The Atlantic City Ballet is comprised of culturally diverse dancers that exhibit the force, delicacy and energy necessary to interpret the demanding repertoire that has become their trademark. Currently the Company consists of dancers representing countries spanning the globe, including Japan, Brazil, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Venezuela, and England.

Atlantic City Ballet's Swan Lake is choreographed by Phyllis Papa after Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The production is infused with a new passion that embodies all the beauty, strength, and grace of classical ballet.

Swan Lake will be performed on Saturday, January 26th at 2pm and 7pm at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville. Ticket prices are $40 and $55. To purchase tickets go to www.lincolntheater.org or call the Box Office at 707-944-9900.
