Wildsong’s having a Wild, Wild Party…and are inviting you!
[SAN DIEGO, Calif.] – Wildsong Productions will present their production of Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party at the Wildsong Theatre and Arts Collective (formerly OB Playhouse) in Ocean Beach from Oct. 31 to Nov. 10, featuring local musical theater performers from across the county.
“Queenie was a blonde, and her age stood still, and she danced twice a day in vaudeville."
The opening line of the 1928 epic poem for which the show is based sets our scene, and the rest of our mysterious, seedy, and sexy characters quickly fall into line.
Wildsong Productions will open their production of Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party on Oct. 31 in Ocean Beach. This immersive production invites audiences to the party-to-end-all-parties thrown by Queenie and Burrs, our leading players, and challenges them with the question - who will strike the match to ignite the night? Tickets for The Wild Party are on sale now.
Set over the course of one night in 1920’s New York City, tumultuous couple Queenie and Burrs (played by Amanda Blair and Cody Ingram), both down-and-out, decide to throw a party rather in hopes of putting an end to their madness. When a new man, Mr. Black (Trey Block), arrives with Queenie’s long time frenemy Kate (Brooke Aliceon), tensions grow as Queenie decides that he’s just the thing she needs to rise back into Burrs’ good graces. What could go wrong?
Brooke Aliceon, founding artistic director of Wildsong Productions and director for the production, is excited to bring this rarely done show to San Diego audiences.
“The Wild Party was last produced in the area 14 years ago,” says Aliceon. “Our production has been an anticipated work, as we were forced to shut this particular production down in 2020 due to the pandemic. We’ve waited a long time to show the real, the raw, and the racy escapades of a group of friends - and foes - over the course of one wild night.”
