Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud for a live audience presents Words and Music, the fifth production in their American Season XI, a season that focuses on American stories by American authors. Write Out Loud Story Concerts bring literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories and poems together into a literary tapestry. Patricia Freund, Lileth Freund, Sandy Campbell, Kürt Norby, David Fenner and Walter Ritter will perform. Mark Danisovszky will accompany on the keyboard. A complimentary pre-show reception starts at 6:15pm with a 7:00pm curtain.
Words and Music come together to bring joy to our lives in so many ways - whether through the lyricist and composer of a broadway show or opera, or the addition of a poem to a traditional melody or just imagining the music described by a gifted author. We will explore these in our upcoming program WORDS AND MUSIC. Hear giant bells toll via an excerpt from THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME by Victor Hugo; a snippet from La Traviotta in a moving mother/daughter story, DYING FOR LOVE by Martha Brooks; the distant music of youth in MOVING HOUSE by Pawel Huelle; and the AGONY OF WRITING A MUSICAL COMEDY by P.G. Wodehouse . This playful examination of music, song and words promises to delight and inspire.
Tickets for Words And Music are $25. There are discounts for seniors, students and military. Purchase tickets on-line at www.writeoutloudsd.com or by calling 619-297-8953.
In addition to their six show season of Story Concerts, Write Out Loud provides the community six other core programs serving over 18,000 people annually.
