Vaudeville in Vogue Again! The McCallum Theatre Presents Second Edition of A TRIBUTE TO THE FOLLIES

From the legendary Folies Bergère to the Ziegfeld Follies of Broadway to the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, the theatrical revue has been a staple of entertainment for well over 100 years. The McCallum pays tribute to these wonderful performers with its own Vaudeville variety show. The McCallum's Second Annual Tribute to the Follies stars John Davidson and Ann Hampton Callaway, and features The Olate Dogs, David & Dania, Mark Schiff, Henrik Bothe, and the Follies Dancers and Follies Orchestra.

John Davidson graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts and then, on to Broadway where he played Burt Lahr's son in the musical Foxy. John later starred in the HallMark Hall of Fame version of The Fantasticks, playing Matt. He received the Theater Guild Award for his portrayal of Curly in the Broadway revival of Oklahoma!. He also hosted "The Kraft Summer Music Hall" with regulars George Carlin, Flip Wilson and Richard Pryor. John's contract with Columbia Records led to 13 albums and the major Las Vegas showrooms. During those years, he began starring in regional theaters, including leading roles in The Music Man, 110 in the Shade, Camelot, Chicago, Shenandoah, Man of La Mancha and Teddy Roosevelt in the one-man show Bully. On television, John hosted "That's Incredible," "The New Hollywood Squares," "One Hundred Thousand Dollar Pyramid," 80 hosting evenings on "The Tonight Show," and his own daytime talk show. He's appeared on prime time specials and played Sally Field's husband in the series "The Girl with Something Extra." John's film career includes The Happiest Millionaire; The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band; Airport 80; Edward Scissorhands and The Squeeze. John had his own theater in Branson before returning to Broadway to star in State Fair and in the off-Broadway production of High Fidelity.

Ann Hampton Callaway dazzles music lovers as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress and educator. Best known for starring in Broadway's Swing and for writing and singing the theme to the TV series "The Nanny," she also brings fresh interpretations to the Great American Songbook and timeless classics. While she could have enjoyed an operatic career with her pitch-perfect control and three octave range, she realized she would be happier singing the music she most loved. After singing in New York piano bars, she stepped away from the piano to perform with esteemed jazz musicians, refining her ability to scat, swing and inhabit a song. She concludes most concerts with signature improvisation, playing and singing a well-crafted humorous song based on words and phrases called from the audience. Ann has appeared with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, and with her sister Liz Callaway in their award winning show Sibling Revelry. Her CDs have received critical acclaim and she is an in-demand songwriter, having composed over 250 songs for television, Broadway, and for today's leading interpreters of song. Ann's accolades include Tony nominations, an unsurpassed fourteen awards from The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, and other recognition too numerous to mention.

The Olate Dogs have traveled extensively performing on TV, circuses, NBA halftimes, theater and more. They won the $1 million prize on "America's Got Talent" in Season 7, along with the opportunity to headline their own show at The Palazzo in Las Vegas. Led by Richard Olate and his son Nicholas, the Olate Dogs are a fast-paced act filled with amazing pet tricks. A third generation circus performer, Richard's dream was to have his own dog variety show. He currently has four completely different dog acts. Most of Richard's dogs are rescue dogs.

David & Dania have performed all over the world in countless theaters and nightclubs in more than 40 countries, including Europe, South America, Asia, and South Africa. They created and perfected "Quick Change," a magical performance combining a series of elegant ballroom dance sequences into a progression of dramatic costume changes that challenge reason. It's an amazing "sleight of body" metamorphosis, performed completely surrounded, as dazzling as it is baffling. It's not entirely body transformation, its contemporary magic and beautiful ballroom dancing intertwined into the mystery of the quick change theme!

Scott Wood has been cracking audiences up since going full time with his comedy in 1989. He has won every comedy contest he's entered and has performed across the United States and abroad. Scott has opened for many artists, including Frankie Avalon, Chubby Checker, Brooks and Dunn, Debbie Reynolds, and more. He is the creator and star of the new sitcom "My Life in Punchlines." His clean comedy can be heard on XM Radio and he's opening for the "Best of Doo Wop." Scott has four "live" comedy releases which earned the seal of approval award from the Dove foundation for family entertainment. Scott has written jokes for Jay Leno and Joan Rivers and been featured in "Readers Digest" in their top fifty funniest one-liners of all time.

Henrik Bothe, a native of Denmark, got his professional start in Europe. He moved to San Francisco, and then to Seattle and was a cruise ship headliner. He engineered "Neonman," a glow-in-the-dark illusion that is a major component in his show. That was also when Henrik created his plate spinning routine; one of the biggest motivations for Henrik to become a performer/juggler was watching "The Ed Sullivan Show." Henrik appeared on "A Prairie Home Companion" where Garrison Keillor exclaimed "Henrik is one of the few jugglers that have ever succeeded in performing on the radio." Henrik has appeared on "The Tonight Show," in Las Vegas, and on Europe's popular variety show "Le Plus Grande Cabaret du Monde."

Performance times for the Second Annual Tribute to the Follies are Wednesday, March 8, at 8:00pm, and Thursday, March 9, at 2:00pm and 8:00pm.
