The Old Globe received a $75,000 donation from the Blachford-Cooper Fund at the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation. The Old Globe, located in Balboa Park, is one of the country's leading professional regional theaters and has stood as San Diego's flagship arts institution for more than 80 years.

"The Old Globe's annual budget is approximately $22 million, but only a portion of the organization's expenses are covered by ticket revenue, so donations from the public are vitally important to keep the mission of the Old Globe alive," said Peter J. Cooper, the vice chair of arts engagement at The Old Globe and funder of the Blachford-Cooper Fund at SDHDF.

"The Board, staff, artists, and audiences of The Old Globe are grateful to the Blachford-Cooper fund for their generosity," said Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein. "This wonderful gift will help sustain the Globe's year-round artistic operations. Norman and Peter are great friends to this institution and also to the arts in San Diego more generally. Their philanthropy makes a difference and sets an example for others to follow. We congratulate them and thank them for this gift."

The Blachford-Cooper Fund is one of 16 Donor Advised Funds that are managed by the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation. Establishing a Donor Advised Fund allows individuals to make a gift to the SDHDF and remain actively involved in suggesting uses for the financial gifts, targeting the issues they care about the most. Donor Advised Funds allow philanthropic people to take an active role in grantmaking to organizations, with SDHDF handling all investment and administrative details. "We are so proud and pleased to present The Old Globe with this donation," said John Brown, Executive Director, San Diego Human Dignity Foundation. "We are honored that Norman Blachford and Peter Cooper have chosen to include us as a partner in their active giving through their fund."
