Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for a live audience - announces their 10th Season of Story Concerts. The Season begins on August 22nd with Twain v. Clemens, on the heels of Write Out Loud's annual TWAINFEST.

WOL held their first reading at North Coast Repertory Theatre in 2007 and began their first season in the fall of 2007 in Cygnet Theatre's then Rolando Space. Their Season of Story Concerts now takes place at Old Town Theatre.

Write Out Loud brings literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories, poems and sometimes music together into a literary tapestry. A complimentary reception at 6:15 precedes each performance at 7:00 pm. Local favorites - Linda Libby, Ron Choularton, Jason Heil, Jessica John Gercke, David Fenner and many others join Co-Founders Walter Ritter and Veronica Murphy throughout the Season.

Murphy explains why WOL's story concerts have become so popular, "Reading is so often thought of as a solitary activity. By reading aloud with an audience we experience the emotional gamut of literature together. We embrace these opportunities to examine modern issues through the filter of classic literature. WOL has explored a vast canon of literary gems since we started in 2007. To celebrate our 10th Season - each program will contain an audience favorite from past years."

TWAIN v. CLEMENS - August 22, 2016

Explore the life, both public and private, of Mark Twain - one of America's favorite humorists. Contrast the "Literary Icon" with the "Father and Husband" through excerpts from his autobiography and his comical and warm positions on amateur writers, honorary degrees & injustices. Cast includes San Diego favorite, Jason Heil and daughter Katrina Heil.
