Sierra Repertory Theatre continues its 2018 Season with Million Dollar Quartet, the high voltage Broadway musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night of musical magic. Million Dollar Quartet? is directed by Michael Ray Wisely,? music directed by Mark Seiver, ?and will feature a cast of actor/musicians playing instruments live onstage as their iconic characters. This production plays at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park.
The Tony Award winning musical is set on December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary December night to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations that is both poignant and funny. Relive the era with the smash-hit sensation featuring an incredible score of rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B and country hits, performed live onstage by world-class actors and musicians. Showcased hit songs include: "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Walk the Line," "Sixteen Tons," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "Hound Dog," and more.
"Along with plenty of humor, there is depth and authenticity in the book of this musical," says director Michael Ray Wisely. "The audience gets to be in the room with a few of the most recognizable stars of their lifetimes and listen in as they struggle with the choices, successes, and failures that would shape the rest of their lives and careers. Now add some of the most popular music of the 20th century and... goodness gracious!"
