The San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC), one of San Diego's premier all-female vocal ensembles, announces its spring production entitled "Voices: Stronger than Silence. Louder Than Hate." This exciting and timely concert is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 4:00 PM, at The Performing Arts Center at Lincoln High School in San Diego, California.
This program's aim "is to weave together music representing the tapestry of the human experience from around the globe," shares Artistic Director, Kathleen Hansen. The music will illustrate a variety of perspectives from different human experiences, "particularly in a world where too often the voices of the marginalized and less empowered are silenced."
Exhilarated from recent performances at the California Democratic Convention and with pop sensation Demi Lovato, Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen continues, "In the spirit of SDWC's core values, "Voices" reminds us that sharing our stories is a powerful tool against oppression and hate and allows for a greater understanding of humanity."
"Voices" will feature music from popular Broadway shows "Hamilton" and "Fun Home," pop pieces by Lady Gaga, Sara Bareilles, Rachel Platten, and Cyndi Lauper, pieces by folk activists Pete Seeger and Holly Near, and beautiful choral compositions highlighting experiences of those in Appalachia and Brazil.
By incorporating songs of refugees, Native Americans, anti-war protestors, a trans man discovering who he is, civil rights activists, and the human experience of self-discovery, "Voices" aims to capture experiences that make us all different yet bring us together.
Tickets for "Voices" start at $20 for general admission, $18 for youth, senior, and military and are available via Ticketleap at https://sdwc.ticketleap.com/voices. VIP tickets are also available for $30 and include seating in a reserved premium section. Same day tickets will be available at the door, starting at $25 for general admission and $20 for youth, senior, and military.

About the San Diego Women's Chorus
Founded in 1987 by community activist Dr. Cynthia Lawrence, SDWC has grown from a group of 14 lesbians gathered around a piano in a private home to a thriving community with over 125 members who believe in the power of music and the power of women. For 30 years, SDWC has provided a safe space that encourages women's creativity, celebrates diversity, and inspires social action. San Diego Women's Chorus is a nonprofit community chorus that strives to entertain and inspire audiences with music that speaks to issues as diverse as human rights, love, world peace, religious freedom, environmental harmony, inclusion, and cultural diversity. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women, as well as lesbian and gay composers and arrangers.
