The San Diego Theatre Connection is Creating Community and empowering children with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County (www.sdbigs.org). During the holiday season, four of our theatre companies are participating in the BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS BIG SHOW campaign to recruit volunteers and help raise awareness for the established mentoring organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. Nationally, statistics show that children in the program are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin using alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class, and 33% less likely to hit someone.

The BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS BIG SHOW campaign launched November 10th with productions of HAIRSPRAY at the Star Theatre in Oceanside (www.startheatreco.com) and MAKING GOD LAUGH at PowPac Community Theatre in Poway (www.powpac.org). Patio Playhouse in Escondido (www.patioplayhouse.com) joins the volunteer drive this Friday, November 17th during the run of the holiday hit comedy GREETINGS! Lamplighters Community Theatre in La Mesa presents A CHRISTMAS CABARET December 1st-17th (www.lamplighterslamesa.com). At the Saturday evening performance, December 9th, the cast will welcome a group of Big Brothers and Sisters and their mentor children to be part of the show. San Diego Theatre Connection founder, M.G. Perez, says, "We have grown across the county in the past eleven months, and we are expanding even more in time for our one year anniversary in January." Perez continues," As we like to say, it's a new day in San Diego theatre."

San Diego Theatre Connection welcomes partnerships among performing arts organizations across the county. Their mission is promoting quality entertainment and creating community collaborations through theatre. They are committed to raising donations, increasing awareness, and developing volunteerism for our member non-profit organizations. Their current theatres include The Star Theatre Company (www.startheatreco.com) Patio Playhouse (www.patioplayhouse.com), Lamplighters Community Theatre (www.lamplighterslamesa.com), PowPac Community Theatre (www.powpac.org), Circus Collective of San Diego (www.circuscollectivesd.com), Turning Tydes Theatre Company (www.turningtydes.org) and the Above Board Theatre (www.aboveboardtheatre.com).
