San Diego, September 30, 2012 — THE DOOMSDAY DIARIES, a hilarious vBlog that vows to make a daily video entry until the Mayan Apocalypse HERE, has just posted its homage to one of its favorite Broadway divas, Lea Salonga, who is currently playing a Japanese American internee in the world premiere of ALLEGIANCE: A NEW AMERICAN MUSICAL at The Old Globe in San Diego, California until Sunday, October 28.
Tony winner Lea Salonga, who is originally from Manila, Philippines, and who is better known as Kim in “Miss Saigon,” Eponine in “Les Miserables,” and the singing voice for Disney princesses Jasmine in “Aladdin” and Fa Mulan in “Mulan,” plays Kei Kimura, the older sister of Sammy (Telly Leung, George Takei), who is torn between fighting for his country and honoring his community and family in ALLEGIANCE, a Japanese American World War II family drama, featuring music and lyrics by Jay Kuo; book by Marc Acito, Kuo, and Lorenzo Thione; and direction by Stafford Arima.
THE DOOMSDAY DIARIES’ vBlog has reached Ms. Salonga via Facebook, and she was amused by it.
“Can we say, AMAZING??? Best ‘Allegiance’ commercial ever!” remarked Ms. Salonga.
