On Thursday, June 18 at 8:00 PM, Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage and Sher Krieger Events in San Diego present San Diego native Russ Lorenson as he comes home to San Diego to perform his acclaimed show, Benedetto/Blessed: Celebrating the Life and Music of Tony Bennett!

The best is yet to come as singer and recording artist Russ Lorenson honors an American music icon in his show, Benedetto/Blessed: Celebrating the Life and Music of Tony Bennett, Lorenson's tribute to the man whom Frank Sinatra called "the best singer in the business." Tickets are available at www.ma4sd.com.

Lorenson's tribute to Bennett premiered at Austin Cabaret Theatre as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt and has enjoyed sold-out runs across the country, including San Francisco's Empire Plush Room, Sterling's Upstairs in Los Angeles, Milwaukee's Wilson Center for the Arts, and New York's famed Iridium Jazz Club. The show comes directly to San Diego ahead of its 10th anniversary performance at Feinstein's at the Nikko in San Francisco, and marks Lorenson's first concert appearance in San Diego since 2010.

In honor - not impersonation - of Mr. Bennett (whose birth name, Benedetto, translates to "blessed" in Italian), and his successful career spanning over six decades, Lorenson will perform an array of the crooner's hits, and tell the story of this amazing artist's life in the award-winning show that the press has called "solid gold," "great genius," and "a masterpiece."

Newly updated for 2015, the show will feature Mr. Bennett's latest partnership with the incomparable Lady Gaga by featuring San Diego favorite Ria Carey as Lorenson's special guest at this performance.

"I find great inspiration in Mr. Bennett's music and artistic vision," says Lorenson. "The Great American Songbook has had no greater champion, and I am honored to be singing Mr. Bennett's greatest hits in the town where I left my own heart."

Russ Lorenson has established a reputation as one of today's leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop - the very essence of the Great American Songbook. Jazz Review says that "Lorenson is not just a crooner covering the traditional Sinatra style or trying to be the next Connick; he is his own man."

Nominated for a MAC Award by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, Russ Lorenson's passion for the stage started as a youngster, with a performing career that began at age seven, and blossomed throughout his years growing up in San Diego. As an actor he has appeared in award-winning musical productions with theatre companies throughout the US, including San Diego's own Starlight Musical Theatre, Diversionary Theatre, and Lyric Opera San Diego. As a vocalist he has toured the US, UK and Europe, appearing in concert with such luminaries as Broadway stars Teri Ralston (Company, A Little Night Music, The Baker's Wife), Karen Mason (Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Sunset Boulevard) and Dale Kristien (Phantom of the Opera), "Queen of Cabaret" Andrea Marcovicci, Jazz diva Wesla Whitfield, and as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt.

Lorenson is best known for his critically-acclaimed tributes to two American musical icons, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin. His one-man celebrations of the lives and music of these two greats have played to sold-out audiences across the US. His two CDs have received extensive radio airplay in major markets across the US and both CDs were included on the Nominating Ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album" alongside such artists as Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, and John Pizzarelli.

Doors open at 6:00 PM for Lorenson's June 18th 8:00 PM show. Tickets are $20-$25 plus a $15 food/beverage minimum. Purchase tickets online at www.ma4sd.com. Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage, San Diego's premier live music venue and supper club, is located at 3940 Fourth Avenue, 2nd Floor, San Diego, CA 92103.
