Set in Buffalo, New York, the playwright's home town, Over the Tavern carries us back to the Eisenhower years of the 1950s and introduces us to the Pazinskis - Mom, Dad and their four children, Eddie, Annie, Georgie and, the hero of our tale, 12-year-old Rudy, a precocious kid who's starting to question family values and the Roman Catholic Church. Rudy believes God put us on earth to "have fun," and he's trying to figure out why his family isn't having any. When Rudy goes up against the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa and announces that instead of being confirmed he'd rather shop around for a more "fun" religion, all hell breaks loose

Over the Tavern was written by Tom Dudzick, directed by Annette Alliano and produced by Dorothy Courtney. The show is presentedby special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. and features Loie Gail as Sister Clarissa, Mary Ann Van Sickle as Ellen, John Wilcox as Chet, Devin Wade as Eddie, Jessica Buck as Annie, Michael Moreau as Rudy and Jeffrey Atterbury as Georgie.

Author Tom Dudzick is one of the few American Playwrights who makes a living at it. This play, originally published in 2006, is the first of his "Over the Tavern Trilogy," a semi-fictional trio of comedies based on his early years in Buffalo. The play has broken box office records all over the country, ran for over a year in Chicago and garnered critical praise such as:

A memorial plaque has been placed in front of Dudzick's boyhood home in Buffalo, commemorating his father's tavern and the play it inspired.
