North Coast Repertory's Threatre School Presents A COMEDY OF ERRORS, 3/31-4/3

Saddle up! The Theatre School at North Coast Rep is presenting Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors March 31 through April 3. The Comedy of Errors tells the tale of the separation and reunion of a husband and wife, their twin sons and twin servants. Along the way, there are numerous instances of mistaken identity, leading to slapstick humor. In an unusual twist, the play is set in the Old West, and features a cast of talented area students from North County and surrounding communities.

"By setting the play in the Old West, we thought it would be fun for both the performers, and audience," said director Tarla Hill, a Solana Beach native. "The kids have responded enthusiastically to this reworking. It seems more natural to them."

Assistant director Vanessa Dinning, who is affiliated with the San Diego Shakespeare Society, agreed and noted, "Shakespeare can be somewhat intimidating to the uninitiated. Whenever you can make his plays more accessible and more familiar to the audience, you succeed in making it easier to understand what is happening and to appreciate his true genius."

Adult Actor Mentors include Tony Hamm and North Coast Repertory Theatre School Director, Matt Thompson.

The Comedy of Errors will be presented from Thursday, March 31, through Sunday, April 3, on the mainstage at North Coast Repertory Theatre.
