Broadway San Diego is excited to announce the top 20 nominees for Best Actress and Best Actor, and the top 3 nominees for Best Musical Production for the 2018 Broadway San Diego Awards, sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union and taking place on Sunday, May 27 at the Balboa Theatre.
This is the 5th annual San Diego high school musical theatre competition, in which the winning Best Actor and Best Actress performers each receive $1,000 and will be flown to New York on an all expenses paid week of intensive training before they compete in The Jimmy Awards, at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (home of Disney's The Lion King) on Monday, June 25, 2018, for the opportunity to win $10,000 towards a college scholarship.
Leading up to the Broadway San Diego Awards, the Top 20 nominees will take part in a week-long intensive rehearsal consisting of dance, vocal and acting workshops, as well as master classes with Broadway performers and theatre professionals.
The Jimmy Awards are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement, recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance and elevating the importance of theatre arts education in schools. The Jimmy Awards are presented by The Broadway League Foundation.
