Music at New Village Arts presents the madcap Not-So-Silent Movie Night with acclaimed sound effects man and musician Scott Paulson and the Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra. Not-So-Silent Movie Night at New Village Arts Theatre, 2787 State Street in the Carlsbad Village, Thursday, August, 26 at 8pm. Tickets: $10. All ages welcome.

The Teeny Tiny Pit Orchestra, a small novelty orchestra that provides live music while classic silent films roll, is led by pit director Scott Paulson. Scott received rave reviews for his experimental work in NVA's production of The Man Who. Scott just returned from France where he premiered his new live score for Josephine Baker's silent feature Siren of the Tropics at a movie palace in Paris for the Black France Film Festival. This appearance at NVA is his first silent movie show back on American soil since visiting Paris with Josephine Baker.

See Scott in his most madcap mood at New Village Arts Theatre on Thursday, August 26 at 8:00 p.m. as he performs his favorite music from the 1900's, 1910's and 1920's while classic silent films roll.

Scott Paulson is an award-winning soundscape artist who has been heard on radio, television and film. His own performance ensemble, The Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra, provides live music and sounds for silent film screenings, ballet productions, radio dramas, operas, and theatrical productions. At his lively silent film screenings, Scott Paulson allows the audience to assist with music and sounds - everyone gets to take home a noisemaker and parting gift.

Silent films to be shown in this one-night festival at NVA include: one of the earliest filmings of THE WIZARD OF OZ, a 1910 episode from THE HAZARDS OF HELEN, a fascinating stop-action animation film of the era, a telling surreal look at the Hollywood star machine in the early 1900's, an early classic feline cartoon pre-dating Felix the Cat, and an artful experimental film of the era that the audience will direct musically with glow-in-the dark conductor batons.
