Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage and Sher Krieger Events in San Diego present local favorite performers Melinda Gilb and Steve Gunderson in The Melinda & Steve Show on Monday, February 2.

Popular actor/singers Melinda Gilb and Steve Gunderson will return to MA4 for one show only following their sold-out engagement there last summer. The show has already been updated since their last appearance at MA4.

Gilb and Gunderson, who both grew up in San Diego, met at a party at mutual friend Kathy Najimy's house in 1979. Since that time, they've worked together on stages across the US. Their first foray into cabaret was in New York in 1981. Their cabaret show opened at The Duplex in New York City and has been seen, in various incarnations, since then. The show at Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage will feature the elements of their shows that have worked so successfully over the years: singing, comedy, and portraying characters they've created plus Gunderson's expert musical arrangements.

When they brought "The Melinda and Steve Show" back to San Diego on the MA4 stage last summer, they hadn't performed the act in over 10 years. Audiences were pleased to see the return of the pair as evidenced by the show selling out in just a few days. Gilb and Gunderson will once again be joined by Korrie Paliotto on piano and Isaac Crow on bass and percussion.

Melinda Gilb, who still lives in San Diego, appeared on Broadway in the original cast of Singin' In The Rain as well as Off Broadway in Suds, The Rockin' 60's Musical Soap Opera which she co-wrote with Gunderson and Bryan Scott, and Back To Bacharach and David (original cast). She was also in the first National Tour of Joseph Papp's The Pirates Of Penzance.

Other credits include How The Grinch Stole Christmas at Old Globe Theatre, where she originated the role of Mama Who, as well as The Grinch at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. She was in the original cast of Suds in the role of Marge at San Diego Rep. Gilb is well-known in San Diego for her performances in Walter Cronkite Is Dead (Craig Noel Award nomination), Always Patsy Cline, the original cast of 6 Women With Brain Death, Assassins, The Receptionist, Dirty Blonde American Rhythm, (original cast) Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hello Dolly, Annie, and Sweeney Todd (Craig Noel Award Best Actress, Musical). Gilb was recently seen in She-Rantulas From Outer Space in 3-D at Diversionary Theatre and A Christmas Carol at Cygnet Theatre.

Melinda's TV credits include featured roles on The Full Wax and Ruby Takes A Trip for BBC-1 and guest starring on Becker starring Ted Danson on CBS. Gilb and Gunderson, along with Bryan Scott created the Off Broadway musical, Suds,The Rockin' 60's Musical Soap Opera which has played all over the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Steve Gunderson, now living in Los Angeles, co-created (with Kathy Najimy) and did the musical arrangements for Off Broadway's critically acclaimed Back To Bacharach & David, which was revived at the Music Box in Hollywood with the participation of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. He co-wrote (with Melinda Gilb and Bryan Scott) and did the musical arrangements for Suds, which broke box office records at the San Diego Rep and Old Globe Theatre before moving Off Broadway.

He wrote an award-winning score for the musical Dixie Highway, and collaborated with Javier Velasco on The Brontes, and Everybody's Talkin: The Music of Harry Nilsson, which will premiere at San Diego Rep and stars Tony Award winners Alice Ripley and Gregory Jbara.

Gunderson's other collaborations include More Magic at Stage West in Canada and Two Rockin' Gents at Hope Repertory Theatre. Acting credits include Off Broadway's Forever Plaid, the National Tour of The Grapes of Wrath with Ed Harris, and roles in many productions in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco Atlanta, Palm Springs and San Diego. He has done voices on King of the Hill and (The New) Beavis and Butthead.
