Marin Shakespeare Company Announces 2018 Season  ImageMarin Shakespeare Company, Marin County's only professional Shakespeare theatre, announces its 2018 outdoor summer season - a season exploring complex and compelling men and women. Presented under the summer stars, Marin Shakespeare's 29th season includes "Hamlet," "Shakespeare's Will," a spirited and sensual imagining of the life of Anne Hathaway by Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen, and "Pericles." The 2018 season is in partial repertory, with performances beginning in May and ending early August. There will be some Thursday evening performances this year. The theatre plans to make major renovations to the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre following the 2018 summer season.

Murder, madness, and ghostly visitations stalk a Denmark filled with treachery and rot, as the young prince wrestles with his philosophy and filial obligation in "Hamlet". The production introduces 26-year old Nate Currier in the title role, directed by his father Robert Currier, Marin Shakespeare Company's Artistic Director. Also featuring Barry Kraft, Rod Gnapp, and Arwen Anderson. Fight Direction by Richard Pallaziol.

Performances are May 25 - July 8. Previews May 19 and 20. Opening night is Friday, May 25 at 8 pm.

Behind every great man is a strong, fascinating and mysterious woman. From one of Canada's most produced playwrights, Vern Thiessen, comes this sensuous and imaginative one-woman show, starring Elena Wright as Anne Hathaway. The production is directed by Delia MacDougall.

Performances are June 14 - July 8, in repertory with "Hamlet". Previews June 8 and 10. Opening night is Thursday, June 14 at 8 pm.

"Pericles" is an exciting adventure story encompassing comedy, romance and great passion as the Prince of Tyre tries to find love amid treachery, shipwrecks, celebration, mayhem, and miracles. Dameion Brown stars, with an ensemble cast that includes Eliza Boivin, Jackson Currier, Rod Gnapp, Nick Mandracchia, Richard Pallaziol, Cathleen Ridley, Kathryn Smith-McGlynn, Elena Wright and Diane Wasnak. Directed by Lesley Schisgall Currier.

Performances are July 12 - August 5. Previews July 12 & 13, Opening night is Saturday, July 14 at 8 pm.

Performances are presented outdoors Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, located on the campus of Dominican University of California, 890 Belle Avenue, San Rafael, Calif. The amphitheatre opens one hour prior to show time for picnicking. Audiences are encouraged to bring picnics or purchase snacks at the Theatre Cafe. Warm clothing, jackets and blankets are recommended for evening performances. Parking is free.

Season tickets are $90 general; $84 senior; and $30 youth and include admission to one performance of each play, reserved seating and complimentary seat cushion.

Admission at the door is $38 general; $35 senior; and $12 youth (25 and under). Preview performances are $16 per person, $10 for youth. "Pay Your Age" is offered to audience members between the ages of 26 and 34 when purchasing tickets at the Box Office on the day of any performance, with valid identification. Marin Shakespeare Company also offers those 65 and over half-price tickets at Senior Matinees and those ages 18 and under admitted free at Family Matinee performances.

Free pre-show and post-show conversations with a company artist or scholar are presented on select performance dates.

Shakespeare Dinners are presented at 6:30 p.m. on select Saturdays for an additional $35 for a picnic dinner and intimate pre-show talk. Wine, beer and soft drinks are available for sale, or bring your own. Shakespeare Dinner reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance.
